Welcome to the Mission Viejo City Clerk Department. We are the records center for official actions of the City Council and are responsible for related agendas, minutes, and public hearing notices. In addition, the office receives claims and legal actions against the City; oversees the City's Records Management Program; maintains the Municipal Code; attests and notarizes City documents; and interacts with the City Council, City staff, and the general public on all related matters. The City Clerk serves as Clerk of the Council, the Community Development Agency, the Community Development Financing Authority, the Public Improvement Corporation, and the Library Board of Trustees; administers municipal elections; is the filing officer for campaign and economic interest statements required by the Political Reform Act; and is the custodian of the City seal. The position of City Clerk is appointed by the City Manager and operates under statutory provisions of the California Government Code, the Elections Code, and City ordinances and policies. Mission Viejo's City Clerk is Karen Hamman.

City Commissions: Public involvement is crucial to the City’s decision-making process and in order to draw on the wealth of skills, experience, and interest within our community, the City Council utilizes a number of appointed Commissions. By advising the City Council and staff, bringing new ideas to the table, and representing all of the diverse elements of our community, members of our Commissions help the City Council to make the best, most informed decisions possible. The office of the City Clerk maintains a current list of City Commissioners, the current seats available, and upcoming meeting dates and times. The Clerk also coordinates all appointments to these positions. By December 31 of each year, the following year’s vacancies are posted at City Hall and in the office of the City Clerk.

Public Records
