Community Services Funding Application

Guidelines

The following guidelines are provided to assist with the application process for the City of Mission Viejo's Community Services Funding Program.

1. Who is eligible to apply?
All community not-for-profit organizations meeting the requirements and guidelines specified in the City Council's "Community Service Program Funding" policy may apply for funds.  Policy furnished upon request.

2. Funding categories for the allocation process?
The City Council Policy has targeted categories for priority consideration.
a) Cultural Services
b) Human Services
However, an open-application process will also be maintained to allow consideration of all funding requests serving the City of Mission Viejo.

3. Funding / Report cycles
Applications are due September 1st Funding is dispersed in early December.  Two funding reports are required of grant recipients: August 31 and December 31.  All funds must be utilized by the end of the calendar year, December 31.

4. How do you apply?
You must submit a completed application (attached) and a copy of the following materials unless currently on file:
a) Articles of Incorporation
b) Bylaws of Organization
c) Names/addresses of current Board of Directors
d) Verification of current General Liability Insurance – 2 million general aggregate suggested.
Please note items not applicable to your program with "N/A".

5. How will programs be reviewed?
The Recreation and Community Services Commission will review all applications and conduct public meetings to receive additional input from applicants and the public.  The Commission forwards their recommendation to the City Council for funding consideration.  Final decisions as to the allocation of funds will be made by the City Council.
Agencies are required to return any unexpended funds at the end of the one-year grant period.  City monies shall be used only for the purpose duly authorized by the City Council and in accordance with the budget information submitted by the agency.
